Central Maine Imaging Center is proud to announce our investment in “Dynacad”. Dynacad stands for dynamic computer assisted detection and assists radiologists in the analysis of breast MRI.

This technological advance not only aids radiologists in the detection of breast lesions, but also assists in determining if these lesions are benign or suspicious and would warrant biopsy. The advances of Dynacad can potentially save patients from undergoing unnecessary biopsy procedures.

A Breast MRI exam at CMIC takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. The patient is administered an injection of gadolinium during the procedure. Gadolinium is a contrast agent used to enhance potential breast lesions. Breast MRI images are then interpreted by the radiologists using Dynacad. Depending on how the breast lesion absorbs the gadolinium and how it is translated through Dynacad, it can assist in denoting if the lesion is benign or suspicious.

If you have any of the below criteria, please speak with your medical provider to review your personal options.

X-ray is a form of electromagnetic radiation used to produce
images of bones and internal organs.
Ultrasound uses high-frequency waves and a computer
to view images of blood vessels, tissues, and organs,
as well as to observe fetal development.
Our NEW Dynacad technology aids radiologists in the detection
of breast lesions, and determines if these lesions are benign
or suspicious and would warrant biopsy.
Mammography is a screening and diagnostic
technique that uses low-dose X-rays to
find abnormalities in the breast.
MRI is used to view internal structures using combinations of
radio waves and magnetic fields. This procedure is safe and
does not use radiation.
